Fifteen percent of the gas. Not fifteen percent of the bill.
We would rather you understood the smaller, true number than were impressed by a bigger, misleading one. Here is the arithmetic in full.
A $130 bill in Saskatchewan
- The bill$130What lands in the letterbox.
- The gas supply charge on it$42.90About 33% of the total. The rest is SaskEnergy's delivery and fixed charges, which we never touch.
- Rebate at 15%$6.44/moAccrues quietly on your account. Nothing to claim.
- Over a year$77Paid 1 to 4 times a year, once the accrual passes $100 or twelve months pass — whichever comes first.
- Over five years$386Assuming a steady bill. Yours will move with the weather and the market.
Estimate only. Assumes the gas supply charge is about 33% of your total bill — your share depends on your usage and the SaskEnergy delivery rates in effect. The rebate is 15% of your gas supply charge, excluding taxes, delivery and fixed fees. It is paid 1 to 4 times a year, once your accrued rebate passes $100 or after twelve months, whichever comes first. This is not a quote or an offer of a fixed price.
What the rebate is not
Retail energy has a reputation problem it earned honestly. So: the things we are not claiming.
It is not a guaranteed saving
Our supply rate is variable. In a given month it may sit above or below what your utility would have charged. The rebate is paid on top of whatever that rate was — it is not a promise that your total bill goes down every month.
It is not a discount on your whole bill
Delivery and fixed charges are roughly two-thirds of a typical bill and they belong entirely to your utility. Fifteen percent of your whole bill would be a much bigger number, and it would not be true.
It is not paid every month
It accrues every month and is paid out 1 to 4 times a year — once the balance passes $100, or after twelve months. Small households wait longer between cheques because they accrue more slowly.
It is not a utility programme
We are an independent retailer. Your utility does not endorse us, is not affiliated with us, and its default supply service is always available for you to go back to.
